A 60,000 square foot addition to the 6 million square foot Nissan Smyrna Vehicle Assembly Plant added critical space for new stamping equipment to support the production of 640,000 vehicles annually.
Alongside our partner and affiliate company Stenco Construction, Aristeo oversaw the construction of this 60,000 square foot building addition with a 150-foot-long stamping press pit to the Smyrna Vehicle Assembly Plant. Aristeo’s scope included a significant amount of site work and utility relocation, as well as underground storm piping, fire lines, domestic water, natural gas, sanitary sewers and the main access ring road.
Aristeo’s scope of work included relocating the main access ring road and railroad and poured more than 3,100 cubic yards of concrete for the foundations and press pit. Additionally, we erected structural steel and managed the building enclosure and mechanical and electrical systems installation.
Many of the utilities were difficult to access and required rock blasting to excavate and dig more than 25 feet deep. The team also discovered unexpected issues that affected the stability of the building’s foundations, but we acted quickly and proposed new foundation plans to solve the issue. The project team worked closely with the client to offer alternative solutions, allowing the project to be safely completed on time.
