Aristeo managed the 280,000 SF brownfield renovation of Ford’s Ion Park, its battery center of excellence for first-of-its-kind EV battery cell research.
AGC of Michigan Build Michigan Award Nominee
Aristeo managed the renovation of Ford’s Battery Center of Excellence (BCOE) for the installation of new pilot EV battery manufacturing lines. As part of a $185 million investment, BCOE is a first-of-its-kind research and testing facility for the creation, assembly and testing of electric vehicle battery cells. To accelerate Ford’s EV battery research and testing, this facility is continuing to test lithium-ion cells, in addition to developing new solid-state cell technology to improve flammability, voltage, safety, cost and range. At BCOE, the new solidstate cell testing will determine if this innovation can be manufactured at scale and meet the power requirements for Ford’s diverse vehicle portfolio. With Aristeo’s expert management, upfront partnership and dedication to safety, the renovation of Ion Park finished on time with zero recordable incidents across 200,000 manhours. Aristeo is also remaining onsite as the CCM construction partner to provide additional upgrades and modifications.
The existing building required a number of upgrades to conduct sensitive research and testing on battery cells, such as constructing an internal mezzanine for large utilities and modifications to the existing structure to accommodate large equipment needed for 35,000 SF of clean rooms.
