Aristeo’s Director of Risk Management, Chris Malloy, was recently invited to speak at two customer events about the benefits of Aristeo’s Safety Trained Supervisor Construction (STSC) Certification Program, which has helped Aristeo employees take a more proactive role in implementing safety policies and programs across our jobsites. One such event was the General Motors Contractor Safety Symposium, and the other was a DTE Energy Safety Management Review Meeting.
Safety has always been one of Aristeo’s most important core values, and Aristeo implemented the STSC training requirement in the summer of 2018 as a way to ensure an even safer work environment. We now have more than 40 supervisors active in the program, nearly two-thirds of our eligible workforce, and are on track to certify our entire eligible workforce by early 2020. Aristeo has invested in this program because we recognize the major effect our front line supervisors have on the success of our safety program. As we’ve certified more and more of our employees, we’ve seen our already successful safety program continue to improve.
At these events, Malloy explained the benefits of the STSC certification, which is provided by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals. The certification differs from traditional safety training because of who it targets and the approach it takes. STSC certification targets front line supervisors, including superintendents, foremen, and project managers. Instead of focusing on “the what”, this certification teaches supervisors to focus on “the how” – with an emphasis on the kinds of safety leadership behaviors that directly influence positive safety outcomes.
Aristeo was honored to have Malloy invited to both General Motors and DTE Energy to share the results and benefits of the STSC program. Safety has always been a fundamental part of Aristeo’s culture, and Aristeo always makes it the first priority on every jobsite. This new certification has enhanced our program even further and we are grateful for the opportunity to share our experience with our customers.
