OVERVIEW

As general contractor, Aristeo managed the project and also provided concrete, steel erection and steel fabrication services for AM/NS Calvert’s new greenfield steel production facility. The team worked on two separate projects, Courtyard Pipe Rack and Skin Pass Mill. Aristeo met the challenges of this complex project and successfully finished both projects.

PROJECT SCOPE

For the courtyard pipe rack, Aristeo placed foundations as well as erected 1,400 linear feet of structural steel. For the skin pass mill pit, Aristeo poured concrete foundations and fabricated and erected structural steel. We also placed a three-foot pit base, mass concrete foundations, double sided walls, 20-foot dead pour walls, support slab and installation of slab on deck inside a 20 foot deep pit. Aristeo placed the concrete foundations monolithically and completed the large motor masses in three placements to allow for a monolithic placement of the support slabs as well.

UNIQUE SOLUTIONS

The intricacy of the numerous embeds and various elevations in the mill motor foundations proved challenging. Aristeo met the challenge by implementing the use of a total station both prior to the placement as well as during placement to verify that all embedded items remained as installed.
