Eberspacher Technical Research and Development Center

Eberspächer’s new technical center was designed and built as three separate building structures to isolate vibration between the immediately adjacent buildings. Aristeo served as the prime concrete contractor working directly with construction manager, Walbridge Aldinger. This foundation package for all three buildings and their connectors totalled 3,000 yards of concrete and over 180 ton of reinforcing steel.

The one-story office and shop are joined by conventional slab-on-grade building connectors. The office is comprised of 90% recessed floor to facilitate the installation of an elevated computer floor. The laboratory is housed in a two-story structure with a multilevel basement which includes a matrix of structural beams and columns to support excessive canti- levered loadings. The floors are comprised of slab-on-grade and cast-in-place structural slab. The elevated slabs were an atypical design keeping concrete in the web of the beam or flush with the bottom flange while creating a concrete curb to support the second floor masonry and structural steel.
